Time

All Day

Training Day: Thursday 8th June 2023
9.15am – 4.15 pm

Room 407, Keyworth Centre, London South Bank University, Keyworth St, London SE1 6LN.
Cofacilitators: Ro Rossiter & Lucy Robertson, Clinical & Educational Psychologists

The day will introduce PELI CAN to practitioners & parents/carers, enable them to experience some activities and resources and become confident enough to use PELI CAN as a ‘standalone’ intervention or to support other initiatives.

PELI CAN is a set of open-access, web-based materials to support resilience building and the promotion of well-being in children & young people with SEND/ALN. PELI CAN is based on over 12+ years of action research using evidence-based practice, including WHO recommended interventions, and practice-based evidence. PELI CAN is used in education, health, care and voluntary settings and homes across EYS to Key Stage 4 in line with policies such as mental health in schools and RPHSE.

The web-based PELI CAN materials are:

  • A short, visual story showing the PELI CAN framework- Peli changes from Peli-can’t to Peli-can, with the help of their friend Tou-can! The story helps engagement and makes the PELI CAN framework easy to understand and remember
  • PELICAN Guidance on the framework elements or ‘I CANs’ – I CAN Feel, Relax, Think and Do – explains the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of each ‘I CAN’, outlines activities to develop them and shows examples of the resources for the activities.
  • Complete set of downloadable resources in Folders for all ‘I CAN’ activities as well as getting started and measuring change. There are example session plans, all supporting key learning and PELI CAN delivery.
